Reliable storage for a long-term stay

I learned this the expensive way after moving from Marina to Al Barsha and ending up with half my flat in boxes for months.

For a long stay, I would not pick the cheapest storage you find on page one. I did that first, and the place looked fine on the phone, but access was annoying, the paperwork was messy, and I started worrying about humidity because I had books, a TV, and some kitchen stuff I actually cared about. I switched after six weeks.

What mattered most for me was simple stuff, not fancy branding. I ended up using a storage facility Dubai option that was easier to deal with because the pickup was on time and they explained the monthly terms properly. That alone saved me a lot of stress.

A few things I would check before signing for a long stay:

Is there a clear monthly rate, and do they raise it after the first month? Can you access your things easily, or is every visit a whole booking process?* Do they pack and inventory properly, especially for electronics and fragile items?* Is the unit clean and temperature-controlled, or at least not obviously hot and dusty?* What happens if you need to extend for another month or two?

Also, if you are moving flats and sorting tenancy bits at the same time, the Dubai government portal is actually useful for general city services and move-related admin. I kept bouncing between that and WhatsApp chats with movers.

My honest opinion, for long-term storage in Dubai, pay a little more for reliability. If your stuff is going to sit there through summer, cheap can get expensive fast. I would rather save on furniture shopping later than save 100 dirhams now and regret it.
